The Woods
I spent the summer of 2021 as a backcountry caretaker in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Maine. All of the caretakers called this place the woods. We worked and lived here, with the woods becoming a word that held more meaning to those that understood what it meant to live and work in this place for so long by yourself. Trail work, stirring poop with a pitchfork, and the changing of how one lives life was in service to these woods and in return, it gave back its overwhelming physical and spiritual presence. All of the photos are in chronological order.
